The Pacific Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (PCREEE) was inaugurated on 26 April 2017 in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, at the margins of the Third Pacific Regional Energy and Transport Ministers’ Meeting. It took place in conjunction with the 70th Anniversary celebration of the Pacific Community (SPC). It featured interventions of the Director-General of the Pacific Community, the UNIDO Regional Representative, several Prime Ministers of the Pacific Islands and Territories (PICTs) and the Managing Director of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).


VIENNA, 21 November 2016 – On the margins of the UNIDO 50th Anniversary celebrations, Director General LI Yong, and Martin Ledolter, Managing Director of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), signed a EUR 600,000 trust fund agreement on support for the new Pacific Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (PCREEE). The contribution is in addition to the funding provided by the Austrian Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs.


The Second Meeting of Pacific Ministers of Energy and Transport, held from 2 to 4 April 2014, in Nadi, Fiji, endorsed the establishment of the Pacific Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (PCREEE).
