Road Map Towards the Implementation of the United Nations Millennium Declaration 2001

The road map towards the implementation of the United Nations Millennium Declaration contains an integrated and comprehensive overview of the current situation. It outlines potential strategies for action that are designed to meet the goals and commitments made by the 147 heads of State and Government, and 189 Member States in total, who adopted the Millennium Declaration.

Nauru Energy sector overview

Replacing Fuel Based Lighting with Light Emitting Diodes in Developing Countries: Energy and Lighting in Rural Nepali Homes

More than one quarter of the world’s population, who does not have access to electric light, live in the developing countries. Nepal is one of these countries, where the people in the remote rural areas have to rely on fuel based lighting to bring minimal lighting services in their homes.

Sustainable energy policy: Report on an advisory Mission to the Pacific Islands

In July 2001, ESCAP advised island governments and PROs, that ESCAP intended to send a mission to the Pacific Region and would entertain requests for specific technical assistance related to sustainable energy development. Requests for assistance were received from six countries, Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Tuvalu and Kiribati. The request from Vanuatu was for a technical consultancy on geothermal energy and will be fulfilled separately by a consultant contracted by ESCAP.

Guide on gender mainstreaming: Energy and Climate change Projects

This Guide is part of an organization-wide initiative to mainstream gender into all of UNIDO’s technical cooperation projects and programmes. Karen Cadondon, Eliana Gutiérrez-Amo and Liv Pelt Steensig are the main authors of the document.

The gold Standard Manual for CDM Projects Developers Version 3; Mai 2006

 This Gold Standard Project Developer’s manual refers to The Gold Standard Project Design Document for CDM Projects (GS-PDD) and to The Gold Standard Project Design Document for SmallScale CDM Projects (GS-SSC-PDD).This manual helps developers to complete the Gold Standard project design documents for both large- and small-scale projects. It provides guidance on the information that needs to be provided for successful validation and registration under the Gold Standard.

Tonga Joint National Action Plan on Climate change Adaptation and Disaster risk Management 2010 - 2015

Tonga like the other fifty one Small Island Developing States is highly susceptible to the impacts of climate change and disaster risks. Its susceptibility is principally due to its geographical, geological and socio-economic characteristics. Climate change and natural disasters pose serious adverse impacts on the environment, the people of Tonga and their livelihoods. Scientific findings revealed that these impacts will be exacerbated by future climate change.

Scaling up energy access through cross-sector partnerships
