Tuvalu Biogas Toolkit - English and Tuvaluan Version

This handbook is meant for households who are interested in lowering high costs of energy sources for cooking purposes for their families. High costs of using kerosene and gas stoves for cooking will not build family resilience to the impacts of climate change. Likewise, on the consumption of imported foods, which are increasingly expensive. Having a biogas stove for cooking at home has been proven in Tuvalu to reduce household expenses for cooking using kerosene and gas stoves by 82% and 92% respectively (Binney, 2015).

Regional Certificate 4 in Sustainable Energy (SE)

The Certificate 4 in Sustainable Energy is aimed at those who may already be working in a field related to Energy/Sustainable Energy or those with relevant work experience who wish
to pursue a career in Sustainable Energy. Learners at this level must elect to study in one of the following fields: Energy Management, Biomass, Hybrid Wind, Micro Hydro Power, Solar.

Regional Certificate 3 in Sustainable Energy (SE)

The Certificate 3 in Sustainable Energy is aimed at those who may already be working in a field related to Energy/Sustainable Energy or those with relevant work experience who wish
to pursue a career in Sustainable Energy. Learners at this level must elect to study in one of the following fields: Energy Efficiency, Solar, Biomass, Hybrid Wind, Micro Hydro Power.

Regional Certificate 2 in Sustainable Energy (SE)

The Certificate 2 in Sustainable Energy is a generic qualification aimed at those who are working or seek entry to work in the Energy/Sustainable Energy sector working with Renewable Energy (RE) sources and Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs).

This qualification was developed by the Pacific Regional Sustainable Energy Industry Standards Advisory Committee (ISAC) for the Sustainable Energy Industry Association of the Pacific Islands (SEIAPI) to EQAP.

Regional Certificate 1 in Sustainable Energy (SE)

The Certificate 1 in Sustainable Energy is a generic qualification aimed at those who seek entry to work in the Energy/Sustainable Energy sector working with Renewable Energy (RE) sources and Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs).

This qualification was developed by the Pacific Regional Sustainable Energy Industry Standards Advisory Committee (ISAC) for the Sustainable Energy Industry Association of the Pacific Islands (SEIAPI) to EQAP.

Comparative Report Pacific Region Electricity Bills, 2017

Fifth report of the Utilities Regulatory Authority (URA) on electricity bills (electricity tariff) comparisons for the Pacfic countries and territories. Report uses spot currency exchange rates in January 2017,since the trend in rankings is only meaningful by holding exchange rates constant at the last version of the report.

Fiji Country Report DRAFT

Fiji is a tropical archipelago located between Melanesia and Polynesia. The Fiji islands are situated 3,000 km east of Australia in the Pacific Ocean at 16-20°S latitude and 178°E-178°W longitude. Fiji comprises of over 300 named islands, which take up an ocean area of some 650,000 km² and a total land area of 18,274 km2 (Evenhius & Bickel, 2005). There are two large islands, Viti Levu (10,388 km²) and Vanua Levu (5,535 km²), two mid-sized islands, Taveuni (434km²) and Kadavu (408km²), and many smaller islands, 97 of which are inhabited (Parham, 1972; Evenhius & Bickel, 2005).
