The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Outer Islands’ Solar Electrification Programme is Government‐owned and operated through the Ministry of Resources and Development (R&D). The operation and maintenance of this programme is carried out by the Marshalls Energy Company (MEC)
under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Government (R&D) and MEC.

Field Visits to Tuvalu, Kiribati and Vanuatu for the PRDR Development

The concept of a data repository going directly to primary data sources is one that has not been tried in the Pacific and it was not known how the primary data sources, particularly petroleum suppliers and distributors, and the government Statistics Departments would accept the concept. Therefore ESCAP selected three countries, Vanuatu, Tuvalu and Kiribati to visit and interview government officials, managers of the organizations that would be the primary data sources for the repository.

Terms of Reference - Energy Statistics Collection and Analysis in the Pacific

This report was prepared by Peter Johnston. The document reports on the purpose of this assignment being to collect and compile the official country energy data for a forthcoming Energy Outlook and Databook for 14 Pacific developing member countries (PDMCs) of ADB1 in two phases: 1) phase 1 (one person-week) to collect the PDMC energy statistics available in Suva, Fiji Islands; and 2) phase 2 (three person-weeks) to fill the data gaps to the extent practical without visiting all countries and to analyze/interpret the data.
