Tonga MR Tanker Port Feasibility Study

Tonga MR Tanker Port Feasibility Study. Prepared for the Ministry of Labour, Commerce & Industries of Tonga by Hale & Twomey.

The feasibility of an MR tanker port in Tonga is being investigated to assess whether it could provide a more cost effective and efficient supply for Tonga’s petroleum fuels. The
cost of petroleum fuels is a significant item in Tonga’s budget and any cost savings have a benefit across the economy as both petroleum and electricity prices are linked to the
cost of fuel.
An MR port in Tonga is feasible and is assessed to provide an annual benefit of nearly 7 seniti/litre in the landed cost of fuel or TOP$3 million/annum. However the project is
substantial with the total investment estimated to be TOP$13 million.
