Report on the BLOOM cleantech cluster meetings and training for Barbadian experts in Austria, Sweden and Denmark from 6th to 8th September 2022

Since 2018, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), is implementing the project “Strategic platform to promote sustainable energy technology innovation, industrial development and entrepreneurship” in Barbados, a small island developing states (SIDS) in the Caribbean. 


Switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy could save the world as much as $12tn (£10.2tn) by 2050, an Oxford University study says. The report's findings are based on looking at historic price data for renewables and fossil fuels and then modelling how they are likely to change in the future.

Tuvalu, 30 August 2022. The Tuvalu Government positioned the Transport sector in its National Energy Policy (2009-2019) as one of the Key Strategic Areas for Energy Security. Being most vulnerable to rising fuel costs and the impacts of climate change, Tuvalu aims to phase out fossil fuel and increase reliance on renewable energy thus minimising local pollution and GHG emissions in the sector.


Honiara, Solomon Islands, September 1, 2022. A multi-stakeholder validation workshop was successfully held Monday 29 August in Honiara on the Solomon Islands National Policy Roadmap for Electric Mobility.

The workshop gathered together representatives from the Government, private sector, NGOs and the academia.

More than 50% of the country’s GHG emissions comes from the energy sector from which transport sector contributes a huge portion of the total percentage.
