The Department of Energy, a division of the Ministry for Climate Change Adaption, Meteorology, Geo-Hazards, Environment, Energy and Disaster Management is formally advertising for the tendering of the Tanna and Malekula Electricity Concession.
The Tanna and Malekula Electricity Concession will provide for the supply of electricity services on the islands of Tanna and Malekula, Vanuatu. The Concession locations will include;
Tanna presently has a peak demand of 265kW while Malekula demands peaks at 250kW and both sites receive their electricity supply from diesel-powered stations and small-scale grid-connected Solar PV of capacities 31.6kW (Tanna) and 21.6kW (Malekula).
Electricity services to be provided will include operation and maintenance, generation, distribution, network expansion, renewable energy, customer services, and revenue collection.
The selection process for a new concessionaire for the Concession will be conducted through a two-stage process comprising prequalification and tendering.
Prequalification of interested companies can be initiated by formally requesting a pre-qualification package from the Department of Energy.
Prequalification submissions will be evaluated and scored per the criteria defined in the prequalification package. Only prequalified companies will be provided access to the final tender documents and authorized to submit qualified tenders.
